Privacy Policy
Effective 22 October 2026
Voz AI is a speaking coach. To coach you, it has to hear you, so here’s exactly what happens to what you say.
At a glance
- Your recordings never leave your device. They’re deleted after 30 days.
- Transcripts, scores and your profile sync to your account so you can use Voz AI anywhere. Their content is encrypted before it’s stored.
- We don’t sell your data, show ads, or use your practice to train AI.
- We use no analytics or advertising cookies, only what’s needed to keep you signed in.
- AI features send the minimum needed (for example, an excerpt of your answer) to the providers named below.
- Download or delete everything yourself in Settings › Privacy & data.
1. Who we are
Voz AI is operated by [Company name], [Registered address] (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller (under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, the “Data Fiduciary”) for the personal data described here.
This policy covers the Voz AI website and web app. Questions: privacy@voz.ai.
2. What we collect
We only collect what Voz AI needs to work. Most of it you give us directly.
- Account: your email address, a password (stored only as a hash) or one-time sign-in codes, and optionally your name.
- Profile: the name you use in the app, your role or roles, goals, interests, reading topics and settings (theme, score display, motion).
- Practice: transcripts of your answers with word timings, the prompts you answered, scores and feedback, role-play conversations and verdicts, and AI-written articles you read.
- Coach chat: the messages you exchange with the AI coach.
- Recordings: audio of your answers, kept only in your browser on the device you recorded on. We never receive them.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, and request logs, handled by our hosting and sign-in providers to run and protect the service.
We don’t ask for, and you shouldn’t share, sensitive information such as health, financial or government ID details in your answers.
3. How we use it, and our legal basis
| Data | Why we use it | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Account: email, password (hashed), optional name | Create your account, sign you in, send sign-in codes and password resets | Contract |
| Profile: name, role, goals, interests, reading topics, settings | Personalise practice, the coach and articles | Contract |
| Practice: transcripts with word timings, scores, prompts, role-play conversations and verdicts | Show your feedback and progress on every device | Contract |
| Coach chat messages | Keep your conversation with the coach | Contract |
| Recordings (audio) | Let you play back your answers. Stored only on your device | Contract |
| Technical: IP address, browser, request logs | Run, secure and debug the service | Legitimate interests |
| Optional analytics or marketing cookies (none today) | Improve Voz AI, only if you allow it | Consent |
Under India’s DPDP Act, we process your data on the basis of the consent you give when you create an account, which you can withdraw at any time by deleting your account, and for the legitimate uses the Act allows, such as keeping the service secure. We don’t use your data for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects: scores are coaching feedback only.
4. AI features
Some features use AI models run by other companies. We send them only what the feature needs:
- Scoring (TypeSafe’s Jev model): the question and your transcript for that answer.
- Coach chat (Anthropic’s Claude, via Orbital’s AI Gateway and OpenRouter): your name, role, goals and interests, your recent scores, short excerpts of your last few transcripts, and the recent conversation.
- Debate, mock interview and rehearsal (Claude, same route): the setup you chose (for example a job description you paste) and the conversation.
- Read articles (Claude, same route): the topic and level only.
No training on your practice. We don’t use your recordings, transcripts or chats to train AI models, and we use these providers through business APIs whose terms don’t allow them to train on the data we send.
AI feedback can be wrong. Treat it as coaching, not as a professional assessment.
5. Speech recognition in your browser
Live transcription uses your browser’s built-in speech recognition. Depending on your browser, your voice may be sent by the browser to its maker for transcription: Google in Chrome, Microsoft in Edge, Apple in Safari. That happens under their privacy terms, not ours. Some “online” text-to-speech voices work the same way.
If you’d rather not use it, choose “Type instead” when answering a practice prompt, or use a browser that processes speech on your device.
7. International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it (for example for data from the EEA or UK), transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Transfers out of India follow the DPDP Act and any restrictions the Indian government sets.
8. How long we keep it
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Recordings | On your device only; deleted after 30 days, when you sign out, or when you delete them |
| Synced profile, practice history and chat | Until you delete them, reset Voz AI, or delete your account |
| Account (email, sign-in sessions) | Until you delete your account |
| Server and security logs | Kept briefly by our hosting and sign-in providers under their own retention |
9. Security
- Everything travels over HTTPS.
- The content of your profile, practice history and chats is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) by our servers before it’s stored in the database.
- Each row is tied to your account, and the database only lets your account read it.
- Recordings stay in your browser’s storage on your device.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we’ll notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
10. Your rights and choices
You can do most of this yourself, right away:
- See and download your data: Settings › Privacy & data › Download my data (a JSON file).
- Correct it: edit your name and Personalize settings in the app.
- Delete it: delete single sessions, all recordings (Settings › Recordings), or your whole account (Settings › Privacy & data › Delete my account).
- Cookie choices: Cookie settings, any time.
Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Email privacy@voz.ai and we’ll respond within 30 days (we may need to verify it’s you).
India (DPDP Act 2023)
You can access a summary of your data, correct or erase it, nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to, and raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (below). If you’re not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
EEA and UK
You can complain to your local data protection authority, for example the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
California (CCPA / CPRA)
We collect the categories described in section 2 for the purposes in section 3. We don’t sell or share personal information, or use sensitive personal information beyond providing the service. You have the right to know, delete and correct your information, and we won’t treat you differently for using these rights. We honour the Global Privacy Control signal.
11. Children
Voz AI is for people aged 16 and over. In India, users under 18 need verifiable consent from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us data without that, contact us and we’ll delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. For significant changes we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
